Harmen Fraanje, a pianist and composer, was born in Roosendaal in The Netherlands in 1976. He was a teenager and found inspiration in weekly piano lessons with Frank Jansen, Frans Stohr, and Ralph de Jongh, who were his art teachers.

He has also played with many musicians, including Mark Turner, Kenny Wheeler and Nelson Veras.
